A reflection-based efficient wavefield inversion

چکیده

Full-waveform inversion (FWI) is popularly used to obtain a high-resolution subsurface velocity model. However, it requires either good initial model or low-frequency data mitigate the cycle-skipping issue. Reflection-waveform (RWI) uses migration/demigration process retrieve background that can be as in FWI. The drawback of conventional RWI use least-squares migration, which often computationally expensive, and still prone cycle skipping at far offsets. To improve computational efficiency overcome original RWI, we have incorporated into recently introduced method called efficient wavefield (EWI) by inverting for Born-scattered instead itself. In this case, perturbation-related secondary sources modified source function. Unlike perturbations are calculated naturally part calculation scattered an way. Because reflection-based EWI (REWI) located subsurface, able update along reflection wavepath. inversion, calculate perturbation deconvolution each frequency. After obtaining REWI inverted model, sequential FWI needed We determine validity our approach using synthetic generated from section Sigsbee2A further demonstrate effectiveness approach, test on ocean-bottom cable set North Sea. find methodology leads improved models evidenced flatter angle gathers.

Born Inversion by Wavefield Backpropagation

The inverse scattering problem for an acoustic medium is formulated by using the variable background Born approximation. A constant density acoustic medium is probed by a wide-band point source, and the scattered field is observed along a curved receiver array located outside the region where the medium velocity is different from the assumed background velocity function. The solution that we pr...

Efficient computation of extended images by wavefield-based migration

Extended common-image-point (CIP) gathers can be constructed using wave-equation migration by preserving into the output image the non-zero spaceand timelags of the cross-correlation between the source and receiver wavefields. Correct wavefield reconstruction leads to focused events in the extended CIPs, while incorrect reconstruction leads to de-focused events that can be used for velocity mod...

External Inversion , Internal Inversion , and Reflection Invariance

Having in mind that physical systems have different levels of structure we develop the concept of external, internal and total improper Lorentz transformation (space inversion and time reversal). A particle obtained from the ordinary one by the application of internal space inversion or time reversal is generally a different particle. From this point of view the intrinsic parity of a nuclear pa...

Novel approaches for elastic wavefield imaging and inversion

Incorporating elasticity into wavefield extrapolation methods includes pitfalls that have no parallel in acoustic scenarios. First, coupled effects among the multiple elastic wave modes (which become three in the presence of anisotropy) often result in crosstalk contamination of the inverted reflectivity and earth model parameters. Second, conventional acquisition does not capture the full wave...

A Simple, Artistic and Efficient Modification of the Inversion Method

The simplest and fastest way of producing an acceptable and accurate cast is by adopting the two-pour or inversion method. This process is slightly cumbersome and messy due to difficulty of access. A much more efficient, easy and artistic way of accomplishing it is described by adopting a Rotating Cake Icing Table with a Silicone Baking Mat on top as an autoclavable non-stick barrier.
